Mentorship Orientation Course
WAVE is BUILT BY GIRLS’ marquee mentorship program that connects high school and college students with top tech professionals across the country.
Each WAVE member receives personalized support from a dedicated Advisor (or mentor) to help them see different career possibilities, and develop skills to land their first job or internship. We believe the best way to break into the real world is with a strong network and an even stronger sense of direction.
To ensure both the mentor and mentee have a positive, uplifting, and comfortable experience, we make sure to arm them with plenty of resources.
Problem
Some mentees were not prepared to conduct themselves in a professional way, commit to the program, or had inaccurate expectations of what WAVE would do for them.
Alternatively, mentors often didn’t have much experience guiding students and felt under-prepared for their questions.
Solution
An orientation course for everyone in the WAVE program. For students, this went over the basics, set expectations, and outlined best practices when communicating professionally—including email templates if they needed to reschedule, etc.
For professionals, we covered best practices when mentoring, growth mindset, and inclusivity training.
Process
Observe pain points in year-end survey
Develop curriculum that will cover most pressing issues.
Develop script
Work with product team to make visual assets (screen grabs, fake example accounts, etc) and record voice over
Publish first iteration and hold focus groups
Edit, rinse, and repeat to create second iteration to incorporate user feedback

Wix Education Videos
Wix is the comprehensive platform that gives you total creative freedom online.
The Wix Education team created video content that served three main purposes:
Content marketing to promote new features and instruct users
Provide expert design tips
Educate the community of super-users who built their businesses on Wix
Problem
New Wix features would be released and users either wouldn’t find them immediately or they wouldn’t know how to best use them.
Also, Wix super users were building micro-businesses on the Wix platform and the company wanted to offer a community and specialized instructions to this group of entrepreneurs.
Solution
Branded educational video that went beyond simple instruction to provide expert advice and best practices.
To best support the super users we crated specialized courses like the Wix certified Training course to certify teachers to train others on how to build with Wix.
Process
Collaborate with product team to stay on top of the product road map and get early access to all upcoming releases.
Learn how to use the new products
Develop script
Work with hired actor to record in our in-house studio
Create all visual assets, coordinate with our editor through rounds of edits
Publish in conjunction with the product release
Hotline Video Series
I spearheaded creating BUILT BY GIRLS’ first resource-driven video content in the video format. As project manager, I planned, outline and wrote all the video scripts, including visual storyboards and all on-screen copy for the videographer. I handled all pre and post production details and developed a marketing strategy which released the videos via newsletter over 8 weeks. The 6 videos had an average completion rate of 38.9%
Problem
BUILT BY GIRLS lacked branded, resource-driven content to engage users and increase brand awareness.
Solution
A short video series that explained various aspect of career readiness in an entertaining way.
Process
Outline and write scripts on 6 career readiness topics
Develop storyboard
Work with graphic designer to create custom branded elements
Hire videographer and direct day-of
Execute marketing strategy
